Maggie Mertens is a writer and journalist located in Brooklyn, NY. She is currently earning her MFA at The New School University in creative nonfiction writing and working on her first book manuscript. Her writing has been published on NPR, Seattle Weekly, and the San Diego Reader, among other publications.

She also works as a web producer for Bloomberg Government, a specialized web product of Bloomberg News. An experienced researcher, editor and digital journalist, she is interested in storytelling through digital media and its many iterations.

Mertens earned a B.A. in English Literature and Italian Studies from Smith College. Previously she covered health policy in Washington, DC, local news in Western Massachusetts, and the offbeat in Seattle.
